This is our first week of Star of the Show Sundays where we will look at a new colour each week, I’ll also share an easy-to-follow card tutorial each week, some weeks may even include a video tutorial also. I am working off a random list of colours, so they are not necessarily in colour family or rainbow order.
This week we will be starring Cajun Craze, a rich colour from the Regals colour family, this is a perfect autumnal orange terracotta shade. It reminds me of the type of rich colour you’d see in Spain or Morocco designs and is a great shade for many different genres of card making from florals, leaves, or even animals.
Today I will be sharing two lovely simple cards using Cajun Craze, I will supplement this by using Old Olive ink and Basic White and Basic Black card to create a stunning design using the Planted Paradise Stamp Set. We will also look at generational stamping, 1st generation is full strength from the ink pad, 2nd generation you stamp off on scrap paper and then stamp, 3rd generation is stamp off twice on a scrap piece of paper and then stamp.
This is a card technique which is perfect for beginners uses just Stamps, Ink and Cardstock, no fancy punches, dies or anything else. So, if you don’t have a lot of supplies you can replicate this design using the Planted Paradise Stamp Set or any Stamp Set you may have.
I will also show an example of how to step up this card with the use of Fussy Cutting, Embossing Folders and Embellishments to show how with a little more experience or products you can create an equally stunning card with a little extra edge.

Instructions

- Take your piece of scrap Basic White and Stamp your images and cut them out using Scissors leave a gap of a Millimetre or so all the way round.
- Take your 3.75 x 5.5-inch piece of Basic White and run this in the embossing folder through your Die Cutting Machine.
- Adhere the now embossed piece of Basic White to the middle of the Cajun Craze Card Base.
- Adhere the stripes of Basic Black either side of the embossed piece
- Adhere the Die Cut pieces using a mix of Stampin Dimensionals and Multipurpose Liquid Glue
- Create a Sentiment, I made a banner using Scissors, cut in the centre at end of sentiment strip about 0.25-0.5 inch and cut from the corner to the point the cut stops.
- Adhere the sentiment strip to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals and then add 3 or 5 embellishments around the card, I would always place an odd number of embellishments to a card.
Congratulations, you have created a beautiful card using either of these tutorials
